Retail Shop Fitout Pakenham

Project Overview

Client: Skechers

Location: Pakenham Central Marketplace VIC

Area: 146m2

Case Study

At AAFS Shopfitting, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional retail spaces that resonate with both brand identity and customer experience. Our recent project for Skechers at Pakenham Central Marketplace is a testament to our commitment to quality and precision in shopfitting services.

Shopfront Features

A standout element of this project is the striking shopfront, which required meticulous structural engineering. The shopfront encompasses a suspended signage installation featuring 400mm height face-lit lettering with an illuminated logo sign.

This signage is mounted flush against a navy backing panel, seamlessly concealing all cabling to maintain a clean and professional look to the footwear store. The narrowline aluminum framed glazing, powder-coated shopfront entry columns, and bulkhead further enhance the store’s modern and inviting façade, showcasing our capability in custom shopfront design as a part of our shopfitting services.

Environmental Considerations

In our commitment to sustainability, and working alongside likeminded environmentally conscious clients, the LED illuminated shopfront sign is controlled by a timer, aligning with the centre’s trading hours to reduce energy consumption and costs. This environmentally conscious approach not only benefits the planet, but also provides cost savings for our client, reflecting our dedication to environmentally conscious retail fitouts.

Interior Fitout Highlights

Stepping inside, customers are greeted by the hero feature of the fitout – a stunning suspended pendant chandelier light situated at the centre of the store’s entry. This elegant light fixture creates a welcoming atmosphere and sets the tone for the shopping experience.

The retail space is efficiently organized, allowing for optimal product display and customer flow, while the back-of-house area was designed for practicality and ease of operation.

Shoes Store Fitout Frankston

Project Overview

Client: Platypus Shoes

Location: Karingal Hub, Frankston VIC

Area: 163m2

Case Study

Complete store fitout of Platypus Shoes in Karingal Hub was undertaken in less than four weeks. The 163m2 tenancy of the single level shopping centre is located just out of Frankston CBD, about 50km south east of Melbourne.

Despite the standard challenge of a sloped mall entry floor, obtaining a flush finished floor level from the large, black, square floor tiles bordering the tenancy lease line, transitioning to the grey porcelain tiles of the adjacent mall, the shop fitout of the popular footwear brand was seamless.

Karingal-Hub-Platypus-Shoes-Fitout

Precision plaster installation (completed by the experienced team at All Pro Partitions and Ceilings) and professional ceiling painting (AVS Décor) was necessary to uphold the high-quality workmanship that our Melbourne shopfitting team are known for.

Creative Strokes applied a specialised black concrete, trowelled-finish render to the shopfront columns. This application adds a fresh and modern, yet laidback aesthetic – much like the streetwear shoe brands housed within the store. Concrete rendering is currently a rather unique application to be used in Australian shopfitting, yet an appealing and cost-effective alternative to many other building materials found on most retail shop facades.

An LED strip light in the teal colour of the Platypus Shoes logo, runs along the underside length of the shopfront bulkhead. Whilst 3D facelit illuminated signage was fixed to the front. Adding to the harmonious appeal of the store, Black Mannex powder-coating was applied to all stripping channels and aluminium extrusions on the shopfront and throughout the interior fitout of the retail tenancy.

If you’re after Melbourne shopfitters who complete interior fitouts within the required tight timelines that shopfitting requires, yet still produce premium quality retail stores and pay particular attention to detail – then give us a call at AAFS Shopfitting.

“AAFS Shopfitting have been a pleasure to collaborate with; open communication and aligned with our goal & vision for the project. Can-do attitude in a tight timeframe, pulling all the stops to meet handover with quality. Brett & the team delivered an amazing fit-out.”

Peter Oram Shoes

Project Overview

Client: Peter Oram Shoes

Location: Frankston, Mornington Peninsula VIC

Area: 156m2

Case Study

Looking for shopfitters for a shoe store near Frankston? Check out the work of AAFS Shopfitting at Peter Oram Shoes in the heart of Frankston. The race track flooring design has kids running in to try shoes on at the newly located children’s shoe store. The textured bright green commercial carpet tiles from Signature Floors are also eye catching to lure the kids in to try on shoes.

Carpet tiles are a great option for retail fitouts. Particularly for children’s footwear and clothing stores. They’re so quick and easy to replace should they spilt on day after day. Vinyl flooring is also popular, and used in the Frankston fitout of Peter Oram Shoes. It’s a durable flooring solution for lots of foot traffic and easily wiped and mopped. The back of house store room of the tenancy contains sheet vinyl, rather than planks. This allows staff to effortlessly slide around frame displays and shoes boxes on the floor.

Shoe-Store-Fitout-Frankston

The Frankston shoe store has a clean and spacious feel as you walk in. This is a result of the seamless appearance produced with floating shoe display walls. The hidden storage behind the beautiful natural oak timber look slats within the store, creates easy access to shoe sizes within the sales area. This allows staff to remain with the customers for improved service and efficiency. It’s also a lot more pleasing to the eye than seeing an abundance of stacked shoe boxes (and less likely for kids and prams to knock the stacks down, like in many other shoe stores).

Custom joinery, manufactured by AAFS Shopfitting, is highlighted throughout the interior fitout. From the ravine natural oak window display to the custom timber slat ceiling feature. The attractive natural oak steccawood panelling and laminate marble counter were also constructed by expert shopfitters for the Frankston shoe store.

“As far as fitouts go, best one I’ve experienced yet! Such a smooth handover and made our job stocking the store A LOT easier!!”

Case Study

This trendy footwear and apparel brand launched in 2020 when the world was turned upside down. Just when Victorians became in desperate need of stylish, but affordable lifestyle and sportswear to encourage them to get up and get active every day. With the brand’s explosive national growth in 2021, we were fortunate to be given the opportunity to collaborate with their incredible team and build their 339m2 retail store at Lansell Square in Victoria’s regional town of Bendigo.

The overall store fitout of PIVOT Bendigo has an industrial feel, with the LED high bay lighting, an abundance of metal stripping and wall post racking, concrete look floor tiles and metal clad shopfront. With mostly black and grey throughout, PIVOT’s use of their signature bright red on several acrylic racking units at the rear of the store, and logo vinyl graphic on all mirrors, really pops against the dark hues, creating a powerful and energetic vibe. An ideal atmosphere for their sporty streetwear buying customers.

The large format vinyl floor tiles, complement the industrial feel of the fitout. They’re also as equally eco-friendly as they are stylish. Karndean’s heavy duty commercial flooring is globally GreenTag certified, aligning with the PIVOT’s noble stance around ethical sourcing and sustainability. It’s slip resistant and acoustic noise reducing properties form a highly practical flooring solution for a large open retail space. (Click here for tips on choosing the right Commercial Flooring for your store)

Designed by ACRD, and structurally engineered by Structure by Design, the 21 lineal metre shop front features folded metal sheet cladding to create a knuckle joint. This shopfront feature can be a more costly design option, and also complicated for some shopfitters to manufacture and install. However, when done well, a folded metal clad shopfront adds a striking, refined detail line finish.

Project Overview

Client: Michael Kors

Location: DFO Homebush, Sydney, NSW

Area: 260m2

Fashion-Retail-Shop-Fitout-Sydney

Case Study

In the midst of Australia’s retail slump in 2019, Michael Kors doubled their physical footprint in Sydney’s leading factory outlet centre, DFO Homebush. The luxury fashion brand took full advantage of the opportunity to take possession of the adjoining tenancy when it became available for lease late 2019.

Unlike the online growth of low cost ticket items, high cost purchases continue to flourish in store. Consequently, many leading Melbourne and Sydney fitout companies are seeing continual demand for quality fitouts for high fashion clothing brands. A full defit of their existing store (taking our shopfitting team around one week to demolish approximately 130m2), also included the demolition of the intertenancy wall to make room for the desired layout of the new look store.

The remaining four weeks on site was allowed for the construction of the dual tenancy fitout. Fitting pre-manufactured joinery requires highly skilled shopfitting installers. Whilst assisting the client by reducing downtime in shop closure, the complexity of this is ensuring the walls are set and manufactured to exact dimensions. Having highly experienced and competent shopfitters, our team were able to accomplish this with the Sydney fitout within a minuscule 1mm tolerance. Therefore ensuring flawless unit installation across the 260m2 store, and saving the client possibly tens of thousands of dollars in potential loss of income.

Luxury-Fashion-Retail-Fitout-Homebush-Sydney

Adhering to DFO requirements, the Sydney fitout comprised a partially open ceiling. To detract attention from the exposed roof structure and services, white track lighting was suspended and a 1200mm wide perimeter ceiling, encompassing LED recessed spots, was installed.

Thanks to the constant communication and cooperation between the client, Vicinity centre staff, our loyal team of subcontractors, and our administration and installation team at AAFS Shopfitting, Michael Kors DFO Homebush was one of the most enjoyable, efficient and rewarding projects. A massive thanks to all involved.

Case Study

The Eastland shopping centre kiosk design is a compact space full of custom elements and considered detail. The 23m2 café fit out comprises of timber panelling, white solid surface benchtops, Dulux powder coated corrugated metal cladding and commercial grade upholstery, neatly finished off with 10mm powder coated metal trims to all tops of the kiosk walls.

Located in the mall of the centre, the external façade catches the attention of mall traffic with striking precision of the expertly laid penny round mosaics popping against the dark grey grout. The vertical corrugated metal cladding wrapping the kiosk, features an ombre paint effect finish alongside ambient lighting on the refrigerated displays highlighting the café’s range of delectable cupcakes.

The Australian shopping centre café culture demands high quality coffee with a semi-relaxed setting to take a quick break between consumer shopping and retailer shifts. The custom banquette seating at The Cupcake Desire – Eastland was built by our team of leading Melbourne shopfitters, highly experienced in café fit outs. Designed to release air and allow the high density foam to swiftly restore, the booth seating was built with ventilation holes in the base to create continual comfort for all consumers.

Large amounts of solid surface elements were incorporated in the Ringwood café fit out, including the bench tops within the kitchen space, and two large custom built rectangular tables for the seating area. As registered manufacturers of solid surface, our skilled Melbourne shopfitters can quickly and easily produce custom solid surface components (check out the crazy shaped solid surface reception desks we built for the NAB) to meet any client requests. Being an attractive, non-porous material, solid surface is a popular alternative to stainless steel and Caesar Stone in Australian hospitality fit outs.

Project Overview

Location: CS Square Shopping Centre, Caroline Springs VIC

Area: 125m2

Footwear-Retailer-Shop-Fit-Out
Concealed-LED-Lighting-Adjustable-Shelving

Case Study

Constructing a retail shop fit out for National footwear retailer, Williams, was a – comfortable – walk in the park. Despite the redesign required only days prior to project commencement, consultation between the client and our shopfitters saw an improved use of dead space. An additional four display bays were constructed, and installed in the lucrative area of the shopfront display. Now capturing attention from the growing mall traffic in the newly constructed wing of CS Square Shopping centre.

The shop front entails the footwear brand’s colours with vibrant red dibond cladding to the shop front columns and bulkhead and bright blue painted internal walls. The colour palette on the remainder of the fascia is more subtle. A spectacular heritage vinyl graphic engages shoppers, running the length of the sloped tenancy line. Framed with wood plastic Biowood cladding, the neutral colouring is designed to make the brand colours pop. Sustainable Biowood wall panelling is a low maintenance alternative to timber. Thus making an ideal finish in a stylish, eco-friendly retail shop fit out.

The project signage contractors undertook a new concept for Williams in the Caroline Springs fit out. Previously printing directly to MDF, MSC Signs applied vinyl graphic signage to the painted internal tenancy walls. The primary shop front signage features rear illuminated push through letters on a white composite panel above the shop front opening. Whereas the return side signage comprises of direct stick lettering and backing vinyl running the length of the shop front glass enclosed by Biowood cladding.

A large amount of joinery was fabricated by our shopfitters for the retail shop fit out, in addition to the shop front. AAFS Shopfitting manufactured and installed numerous wall displays, including a large amount of adjustable shelving. The custom display shelves contained concealed LED strip lighting on the underside to provide optimal product illumination, with no cables visible to shoppers.

St Kilda Eyecare

Project Overview

Location: Acland Street, St Kilda VIC

Area: 140m2

Case Study

Being a local Melbourne fit out, getting all the shop fittings, fixtures and custom joinery from factory to site was a breeze with St Kilda Eyecare. The inner city optom boasts over 15 metres worth of laminate and 2pac wall joinery. Being local made things a lot easier for our team of Melbourne shopfitting specialists.

Senior graphic designer of Australia’s largest network of optometrists, Bronwyn Oster, created a stunning, eye catching mural graphic which sets the mood for this funky Melbourne fit out.

Positioned behind the counter, the statement wall graphic encapsulates all that is St Kilda. Exuding an air of uplifting self-assurance to those wandering the store.

Wall-Graphic-Melbourne-Fit-Out

The diverse range of trendy eyewear and accessories ‘pop’ against the colour palette, bronzed antique mirrors and neutral background colour. This is thanks to the sophisticated design of experienced local optometry retail designers, TwoDesign.

Case Study

Client: Thio Eyecare

Location: Burnside, Melbourne, VIC

Area: 124m2

Custom-Manufactured-Joinery-Melbourne-Shopfitting-Company

Project Overview

Thio Eyecare is a generous size optometry practice located in the Melbourne Northern suburb of Burnside (between Deer Park and Caroline Springs) in local shopping complex, Burnside Hub. Similar to that of a strip shop, Thio Eyecare is positioned on the exterior of the shopping precinct. Prime real estate for business owners with the visual exposure to shoppers, and advantageous for shopfitters and building contractors with the ease of accessibility for deliveries and the like.

Handover of the project to our team of commercial renovation specialists consisted of a bare 124sq metre tenancy, with only the tenancy walls and roof above existing. A blank tenancy is optimal for shopfitting companies as then we know what we’re up against and there are no nasty surprises delaying the fit out. Finding hidden and unforeseen problems in tenancies, such as plumbing or electrical work in walls, will often demand additional time to decommission and may result in a costly variation. An undesirable outcome for all involved.

The four week optometry build comprised of one large consulting/examination room, an oculus rift VR room along with a significant retail space. All joinery was manufactured in house and installed by our experienced shopfitters, consisting of a beautiful timber look laminate counter complemented with a 32mm thick white laminate bench top, wall joinery frame displays and lockable frame display on the blue feature wall, highlighting the store’s designer frames.

LPA Lighting provided a stylish and efficient lighting solution for the fit out, with black suspended track lighting in the retail space and LED strip lighting routed and concealed within the frame display joinery for a seamless finish.

Cafe-Shop-Fitters-Melbourne

Degani Cafe – Plenty Valley

Project Overview

Client: Degani Café

Location: Westfield Plenty Valley – Mill Park, Melbourne, Victoria

Area: 150m2

Case Study

Our Melbourne café shop fitters had to complete the site measure and construct all of the joinery prior to scheduled site access, due to a short 10 day time frame on site.

Diverging from many of their other café fitouts, Degani gave the Plenty Valley café a somewhat industrial feel, with a number of metal shop fitting components, internal oak and ply timber finishes and textured internal render surfaces. However the abundance of greenery throughout the cafe fitout complements the industrial feel and balances it out to create a relaxed atmosphere. The indoor artificial garden design of the café produces an earthy, organic vibe, which continues to be an extremely popular trend in café design Melbourne.

New booth seating was created, which involved revamping some existing components and fabricating new elements to modernise the upholstery in order to remain on trend in the ever changing world of Melbourne café fitouts. To reduce shop fit out costs, the counter tops were repurposed to look new again, a fresh coat of paint was applied to the internal walls, timber feature panelling constructed then erected and a luscious vertical garden wall installed. Collectively producing a warm and calming atmosphere for patrons to settle in and hide away from the commotion and chaos of the shopping complex and Melbourne’s indecisive weather.

The stacked firewood timber feature wall running along the length of the woodfire pizza oven and pizza preparation area is a prominent feature within the café fitout, and has proven to be rather enticing to try one of Degani’s delectable woodfire pizzas.
