Case Study
Chadstone Shopping Centre has changed significantly since ISHKA first opened their doors in the centre over 20 years ago. Undergoing a colossal $660m redevelopment in 2016, the shopping destination demands luxurious fit outs now more than ever, to achieve the high quality build local Melbournians and International visitors alike have come to know, expect and anticipate. ISHKA needed to bring to Chadstone Shopping Centre, what the hand crafts store’s Hindi meaning suggests; intense love and physical infatuation.
The herringbone marble tiles in the shop front design deliver a sophisticated touch to their exotic and eclectic assortment of handcraft products featured throughout ISHKA stores. The timber cladding of the shop front pays homage to the third world communities many of their collections are sourced, and flows through to the timber clad columns leading into the trading area of the store. The black highlights in the shop front design were a last minute addition suggested by the distinguished Chadstone RDM team and were the perfect finishing touch to the shop’s façade. For a cohesive colour flow, touches of black were then incorporated into the interior design, by way of light fittings and fixtures.
Within three weeks, the 300m2 plus retail space was fitted out with a brand new store. Drop bulk heads and columns, concealed stripping to create a seamless (and bracketless) appearance and LED lighting throughout, and one magnificently beautiful ceiling feature to complement the retailer’s extrinsic furniture, clothing and homewares.
